A new private rented property licensing scheme starts in Enfield on 1 September 2021 for all Landlords in the Enfield Borough called the 'Selective Licensing Scheme.'
Selective licensing applies to all privately rented residential properties occupied by one or two persons, or one family households located in 14 areas/wards across Enfield.
This cover the majority of the Borough so we advise all Landlords to check to see if their private rented property needs a licence by visiting the Enfield Council website here: Enfield Property Licensing
Landlords must apply for a licence for each property they rent out in the 14 areas/wards and the fee for a selective licence fee is £600 (£260 is due when the application is made, and £340 will be payable when the licence is granted).
A licence will last for a period of five years from the date that it is issued. The council may issue a licence for a shorter period, subject to additional conditions if there are concerns about the management arrangements or standards.
Please also remember, If you rent a property in any part of Enfield to three or more people from two or more households, whom of which are sharing facilities, you are committing an offence if you have not applied for a HMO licence.
Please contact our lettings team if you have any further questions.
